Rumanček (Matricaria chamomilla L.), ľudovo nazývaný harmanček či kamilky, je jednou z najstarších a najznámejších liečivých bylín. V liečiteľstve sa používa už po stáročia a pre svoje výnimočné účinky je považovaný za všeliek.

Z HISTÓRIE

Vo veľkej úcte ho mali už starí Egypťania, ktorí rumanček považovali za posvätnú bylinu. Používali ho na znižovanie horúčky, rumančekovým olejom odstraňovali bolesti svalov. Pre starých Grékov bol rumanček, pre svoju špecifickú balzamovú vôňu, „jablkom Zeme“.

Grécky lekár a farmaceut Dioscorides ho odporúčal piť pri žalúdočných a črevných ochoreniach, problémoch s pečeňou a pri liečbe nervových porúch.

Aj Rimania dobre poznali liečivé účinky rumančeka a to najmä pri ochoreniach  obličiek, močového mechúra a pečene.

V stredoveku sa rumanček využíval pri liečbe zimnice, bolestiach hlavy, pri ochoreniach pečene a tiež ním liečili choré oči.

POUŽITIE

Rumanček má veľmi široké spektrum liečivých účinkov, pre ktoré sa v súčasnosti osobitne pestuje na farmaceutické účely. Je vynikajúce  antiflogistikum, spazmolytikum, stomachikum, astomatologikum, diaforetikum, gargarizmatikum, karminatívum, dermatologikum a balneologikum. Obsahuje modrú silicu s chamazulénom a seskviterpénmi, ďalej flavonoidy slizy a horčiny.

-      Rumanček celkovo posilňuje imunitný systém, je výborným prostriedkom pri prechladnutí, chrípke a horúčkach, podporuje potenie, ničí jedovaté produkty látkovej výmeny mikroorganizmov ako sú stafylokoky či streptokoky. 

-      Pomáha pri poruchách trávenia, vredoch žalúdka a dvanástnika, hnačkách, pri plynatosti a kŕčoch, obnovuje črevnú mikroflóru a lieči zápaly močových ciest.

Látky obsiahnuté v rumančeku však môžu vyvolať aj alergické reakcie a preto ľudia, ktorí sú citliví na rastliny z čeľade astrovitých, musia byť zvlášť opatrní. Dávať pozor na rumanček by si mali aj tehotné ženy a už vôbec by nemali prekračovať odporúčané dávky.

Zvonka sa protizápalový účinok chamazulénu obsiahnutého v rumančeku využíva pri  zápaloch kože a nechtového lôžka, zle sa hojacich ranách, pri rôznych druhoch ekzémov, lupienke a k liečbe hemoroidov. Extrakt z rumančeka býva súčasťou pleťových vôd, masiek, krémov či pleťových mliek. Pridáva sa aj do šampónov, mydiel, zubných pást a ústnych vôd. Rumanček sa využíva tiež pri výrobe vlasovej kozmetiky, upokojuje podráždenú pokožku hlavy, oplachovanie rumančekom zosvetlí blond vlasy a dodá im lesk a hebkosť.

TIP: Odvar z rumančeka je vhodný aj pri liečbe tráviacich problémov u zvierat, najmä pri hnačkách a kolikách. Používa sa aj pri liečení povrchových a zle sa hojacich rán.
